For years, downtown Minneapolis has been without a full-service grocery store that meets the needs of an energetic and diverse community filled with residents and a fast-paced work force who visits this urban playground on an almost daily basis.
That is about to change with the grand opening of a new Lunds on the corner of 12th Street and Hennepin Avenue.

Have you heard? Lunds and Byerly’s is your 2012 Minnesota Grown Retailer of the Year! We received this award from the Minnesota department of agriculture and Minnesota Grown. We are honored to be this year’s recipient and excited to continue bringing our customers Minnesota grown items throughout our produce departments.
The award was presented by Carrie Tollefson, Minnesota Grown Spokesperson and 2004 Olympian, to Tres Lund, CEO, Lunds and Byerly's
I would like to thank the hard working Minnesota farmers that continue to produce high quality, healthy food. Their passion for growing and their desire to offer all Minnesotans locally produced nutritious food is what makes receiving this award so monumental. I have had the pleasure to get to know many of them over the last few years and their dedication never ceases to amaze me.

There are many ways to make our planet cleaner. I invite you to bring your dog and join me at the Walk for Water at Minnehaha Park Minneapolis this Earth day. Our pet area at Byerly’s Ridgedale will sponsor an eco-themed canine prize package, which you can enter to win when you and your dog pledge to help keep water cleaner.

Did you know feeding/attracting the wild birds in your backyard may have its benefits? This actually helps you and the birds. When you attract the beautiful wild birds to your backyard, they provide great entertainment and education to you, your children or grandchildren. Not only is it fun to become a birdwatcher, but the birds you attract are eating insects in the area around your yard. If there’s a good food supply in your yard for the birds, they’ll be healthy and stay close by nesting nearby. The stronger the wild bird population, the lower number of insects and the fewer pesticides will be needed to control the insect population.

The place was fabulous Las Vegas. The crowd was cheering. The music was blaring. The “Great Blake Westling” was in the spotlight.
Every year, the best of the best grocery baggers from 24 states across the country gather in Las Vegas for an intense showdown of their bagging skills. This year’s event marked the 4th time in 5 years Lunds and Byerly’s represented Minnesota at nationals.
Blake Westling competed for Lunds and Byerly’s this year at the National Bagging Championship. He has worked at Byerly’s Eagan for five years and has been a part of our local Lunds and Byerly’s competition every year. In 2011, Blake won the Minnesota Bagging Championship and earned his position in the national spotlight.
