There’s a “new kid” on the downtown block – Lunds Wines & Spirits Shop

Grand openings are festive, wonderful occasions for both the new merchant as well as the new guests - our customers! This past week, we opened our ninth wines and spirits shop – Lunds Wine & Spirits at Hennepin Avenue - to much fanfare, acclaim and yes, appreciation. If I sound a bit surprised by the latter, it’s because I am. When guests walked in the first day we opened our doors, I got, “Thank you for opening this beautiful store,” “It’s going to change the quality of my life downtown,” “We’ve been waiting for this for years and years, thank you!” I was flabbergasted by the support and the comments. It is so gratifying as a retailer to know that all the planning and the hours of hard work by so many has not gone unnoticed.

Our suppliers played integral and important roles. Without their support and labor, this never could have happened. And our team was magnificent, too! Other wines and spirits stores sent managers and assistant managers to work long hours and again they deserve sincere thanks.

The store itself is unlike any other in the Twin Cities and perhaps amongst a select few in the country that will have you ‘oohing’ and ‘ahhing’ the entire time you shop. When you first step inside, you’re greeted by a stunning and warm oak-paneled ceiling, striking wooden columns and a magnificent display of wines, spirits and brews.

The "Build your own six pack" section in the micro beers section

The micro brews room, stocked currently with nearly 50 locally brewed beers plus another 200 labels, invites you to explore new tastes.

A look inside the beer vault

The walk-in beer vault is refrigerated to just the right temperature and beckons with all your cold favorites.

Rows and rows of vodka, the single malt scotch selections, as well as the ultra-trendy bourbons, are all gleaming on the wood shelves, which are surrounded by historic brick walls and endless supplies of natural light. And of course the wines: hundreds and hundreds of different labels all displayed in an enticing, well-lit fashion, with many big sales to say thank you for all those who have thanked us!

Please make our wines and spirits shop at 1208 Harmon Place a must see on your next trip downtown. Whether you’re at a Twins game, a big parade, the block party, the Aquatennial or just to head to work, please stop in to the supermarket and the wines and spirits shop. You will be amazed, I promise!

In medieval cities, craftsmen tended to form associations based on their trades, confraternities of textile workers, masons, carpenters, carvers, glass workers, each of whom controlled secrets of traditionally imparted technology, the "arts" or "mysteries" of their crafts. Usually the founders were free independent master craftsmen who hired apprentices.
