I have a New Year’s challenge to you as a pet parent: consider what you feed the animal member of your family. Do you feed them organic, natural, well-balanced, or holistic? Do you know where their pet food comes from?
My job as a pet specialist is to help think about this for you and take the wonders, questions or worries out of your decision. Stop in and I can help educate you on pet foods and products, as well as give you some ideas of what your pet might thrive on.
Local Pet Foods
Did you know there are great pet products made here in Minnesota that we carry in our Ridgedale Pet Area? Sojos pet food is homemade pet food made easy. You simply add water and let it set to rehydrate. Some of their diets have raw freeze dried meat already added and some you add your own meat to, helping those pet parents who may feed their pets raw foods. Their foods and treats are all human grade, helping us feel confident that what we feed our pets is as good (or sometimes better) than what we eat. Representatives from Sojos will be at Byerly’s Ridgedale Sunday, January 29, and Saturday, February 11 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Another local pet food we carry is Natural Planet Organics for dogs and cats, both with wet and dry varieties. It’s been brought to our attention that organic foods are good for us - same goes for our pets. The natural diet wild dogs or cats eat is organic, so why not feed your pets that in your home? Natural Planet Organics dog and cat food even comes in compostable bags, helping our environment as well. Natural Planet Organic’s representative will be at the Ridgedale store Monday, January 23 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Now if you are looking for more than just local pet foods, consider all natural pet supplements from local pet company, Wapiti Labs Inc. Wapiti Labs creates a premium line of supplements made from Minnesota farm raised elk velvet antler and herbs. These supplements can be helpful for a wide variety of conditions such as arthritis, lethargy, mobility, aging, G.I. upset, motion sickness and much more. Not only does Wapiti Labs make these incredible supplements, they also provide the only dog chew, my two shepherds use, made from ranch-raised elk antlers. They come in a wide variety of sizes, keep their teeth clean, last a very long time and provide a great chewing escape to keep your furniture and shoes safe.
