Trend Forward, Taste Forward

For many of us, our busy schedules make it difficult to find time for healthier meals so we turn to frozen dinners claiming to be good for you. However, taking a closer look at some frozen dinners’ ingredient labels, it could take a few lines to get to the real food.

You shouldn’t have to sacrifice real ingredients and delicious flavors when it comes to eating healthier frozen foods. As the executive chef for Lunds and Byerly’s, I believe there is always a way to make food tasty and better for you. As our customer, why shouldn’t you have the best of both worlds?

Through customer suggestions, extensive trend research, and countless taste testing, we created Better For You, our newest line of all-natural frozen entrées that are not only full of mouthwatering flavors, but really are better for you. We created meals with a good balance of proteins, carbs, and fats. Instead of adding in excess amounts of sodium and fats, we added in flavorful spices, tantalizing light sauces, and scrumptious, fresh ingredients.

With the help of our organic and natural manager and our dietitian at Byerly’s Ridgedale, we also created a stringent set of standards that all Better For You entrées are required to meet. (See below for all required nutritional standards.)

I’ve been a chef for many years and putting on the pounds comes with the territory. At this point in my life, I wanted to change my eating habits. Better For You products will fit into my new and healthy lifestyle because I never want to sacrifice flavor. With these dishes, I don’t have to.

For me, these Better For You dishes far exceed my expectations and the high quality standards set for Lunds and Byerly’s products. I think we’ve created a terrific product we can all stand behind and be proud of. Be sure to let us know what you think!

Just tried the Chicken with Marsala sauce & vegetable rice last night. The flavor was great! Also bought the Shrimp with Polenta to try, I'm hoping it is as good. Unfortunately there were only 3 items that I would purchase because the rest have way too much fat for my healthy eating style.

I agree that there could be a lot more Vegetarian options. I hope that this is in the plans for any future expansion of this product line.

Great suggestions! We wanted to have a variety of choices with a variety of nutrient contents and will definitely consider additional vegetable and lower fat selections in our next round of dedevelopments.

Just tried the Vegetable Macaroni and Cheese and have to say I'm dissappointed. Way too much sauce, and not nearly as much broccoli as the pacakge suggests. Also the macaroni really turned out mushy. Great idea, not so great execution. Hope it's tweaked.
