Food Safety Alert

Lunds and Byerly’s Issue Voluntary Recall of
Chicken Kabobs, Marinated Chicken Breasts and Chicken Meal Kits

We have been informed of a possible food safety issue involving Listeria Monocytogenes in a recent supply of chicken we used to make select varieties of marinated chicken breasts, chicken kabobs and chicken meal kits.

As a precautionary measure, we have removed these items until we are confident the potential issue is safely resolved. To date, there have been no reported or known illnesses related to the consumption of these products.

We have notified the Minnesota Department of Agriculture about this issue so they can conduct further follow-up with the supplier.

It’s important to note that NO other varieties of chicken in our stores are affected by this recall.

This food safety issue was discovered after we proactively had samples of this chicken tested by an independent, third-party lab during the development of a new line of prepared chicken offerings. This is an added preventative food safety measure we take any time we are developing a new perishable item.

As a reminder, poultry products must be properly prepared at home to be safe to eat. Specifically, chicken should be cooked to an internal temperature of 165 degrees. To avoid cross contamination, consumers should be sure to keep raw meats and ready-to-eat foods separate at all times.

Food safety is of paramount concern to us, and customers can be confident that Lunds and Byerly’s always strives to offer products that are safe and of high quality. We apologize for this inconvenience.
