The story behind our sustainable shrimp

Our sustainable shrimp come exclusively from two sustainable farms audited by the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) to achieve Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification. This ensures the methods used to produce and harvest the shrimp follow GAA’s strict principles of sustainability – environmental and social responsibility, animal welfare, food safety and traceability.

It’s finally spring! In March I told you about the new healthy living tours I’m doing at all Lunds and Byerly’s stores. The program focus in March was the NuVal Nutrition Scoring System in our stores. Many of you joined me for NuVal store tours and chatted with me when I was in your stores talking about NuVal. For those that did, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did!

April’s topic is centered on eating and shopping gluten free I’ll be doing several complimentary store tours focused on this topic. Please see the calendar of events to register! We’ll check out the shelf tags together, talk about living healthfully gluten free and sample a few gluten free favorites too.

I love Earth Day because it recalibrates me back to living sustainably as best I can! It also gets me thinking about all the things on the horizon when it comes to living green, including my food choices. From Dinkytown to Edina. From Uptown to Downtown. The Metro Transit #6 bus gets you to school, to work, and at the end of the day, it gets you home. That’s what it means to 612 Brew co-founder Robert Kasak.



You see, before he was a brewer, Robert rode the #6 bus to work every day. More importantly, he rode that bus home every night. “To this day, when I see the #6 I think about home,” says Robert over beers at the 612 Taproom in Northeast Minneapolis. “That’s what it has always meant to me, and I always knew wherever I ended up, however far I’d wandered, or however much I’d over-celebrated, when I saw that #6 come by I knew it would get me home.”

It’s finally starting to feel like spring here in Minnesota. To go with it, I’ve whipped up a few Easter treats that will be perfect for you to make with the family or serve as a party favor!

 

Strawberry Carrots
This one is a favorite! Chocolate dipped strawberry ‘carrots.’ I originally saw these in a Harry & David magazine and knew I had to create my own version. They’re very simple to make and will have your friends and family “oohing and awing” over them!
