Almost Homemade Bagels
Use these bagels to make bagel pizzas.

Ingredients
  • 1 loaf frozen bread dough, thawed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • - cornmeal
Directions
Cut dough into 8 equal portions. Shape each portion into rounds; punch a hole in center of each round using thumbs. Arrange on baking sheet, cover loosely with a damp towel let rise for 20 minutes. Fill large Dutch oven with at least 6 inches of water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer. Lift one bagel carefully with spatula and slide into boiling water. Add 3 more bagels (bagels need room to expand). Simmer on one side 3 minutes; turn over and cook other side 3 minutes longer. Remove; drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining 4 bagels. Transfer bagels to a cornmeal dusted baking sheet. Whisk egg and water together; brush each bagel with egg mixture. Bake in a preheated 400 F oven until golden brown (25-30 minutes).
