Sticking to your resolution during the big game

Sunday is the biggest snacking day of the year and some reports estimate more than 1.24 billion wings will be eaten and 4.4 million pizzas will be ordered for the big game! It really is the championship of eating events!

 

I look forward to the big game every year, and I’ll admit it’s usually not because of the game, but the fun atmosphere of an eating event that goes on for hours. Most of us will indulge to some degree, so keep in mind this particular day eating is more of a marathon than a race!

If you’re the one rolling up your sleeves to put on the big feast, plan to have a few things on the menu that lighten up your meal and add in some great nutrition. This is the perfect time to use NuVal Nutritional Scoring System and trade up for higher scoring foods.



Here are some tips for a healthier game day snack table:

Veggie trays – Make the centerpiece of your table a huge colorful veggie tray. Carrots, peppers, cucumbers, celery, pea pods, tomatoes, cauliflower - have a tray heaped with veggies to eat plain or use as a dipper. Hollow out a red pepper and fill with a high scoring hummus dip, like Tribe Roasted Red Pepper(NuVal 46).
