This distinction can only be awarded to companies by the ruling monarch of Holland. In order to be selected for a royal appointment, companies must have a deep-rooted history in Holland (at least 100 years or longer), have an exceptional reputation and represent vibrant Dutch culture. In that spirit and to honor the appointment, Beemster developed a very special line of cheeses, Royaal by Beemster.
