Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
2 cups packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups quick cooking rolled oats
14 ounces sweetened condensed milk, 1 can
12 ounces semi sweet chocolate chips, 1 package
Directions
  1. Heat oven to 350 F.
  2. Cream 1 cup butter and brown sugar; blend in eggs, 1 teaspoon vanilla and salt.
  3. Combine flour, soda and oats; stir into creamed mixture.
  4. Spread two-thirds of the dough in a greased 9x13 baking ban.
  5. In a heavy saucepan, combine 2 tablespoons butter, milk and chocolate chips; cook over low heat, stirring constantly until butter and chocolate melt.
  6. Stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla.
  7. Spread chocolate mixture over dough in pan.
  8. Drop remaining dough by teaspoonfuls on top of chocolate layer. Bake about 25 minutes. Cool and cut into bars to serve.
