Ingredients
FOR THE GREEN BEANS: ½ tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1-2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
FOR VARIATION #1: ¼ cup sliced almonds
¼ cup dried cranberries
¼ cup goat cheese crumbles
FOR VARIATION #2: zest and juice of ½ lemon
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
FOR VARIATION #3: 3 pieces bacon, chopped
1 medium shallot, thinly sliced
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Directions
  1. TO MAKE THE GREEN BEANS: Heat olive oil over medium-high heat; add green beans and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then, choose your add-ins:

VARIATION #1: TOASTED ALMONDS, DRIED CRANBERRIES AND GOAT CHEESE

  1. Remove green beans from pan; add sliced almonds to the pan and toast them until slightly browned. Add the green beans back in and stir to combine. Transfer the beans and almonds to a serving dish. Top with dried cranberries and goat cheese. Serve immediately. 

VARIATION #2: LEMON JUICE, LEMON ZEST AND PARMESAN

  1. Leave green beans in the pan and drizzle with lemon juice. Stir to combine. Transfer beans to a serving dish; top with the lemon zest and grated Parmesan. Serve immediately. 

VARIATION #3: BACON, SHALLOTS AND BROWN SUGAR

  1. Remove green beans from the pan; add chopped bacon and sliced shallot to the pan. Cook until bacon and shallots are crispy. Turn off heat and return green beans to the pan; sprinkle with brown sugar. Stir to combine and transfer to a serving dish.
